Colour and material are defining architectural devices within this compact Northland bach, shaping how the space is experienced. Colours are warm and optimistic, designed to evoke joy, nostalgia, and the ease of a holiday by the sea. Rather than accenting objects, colour is integrated into the built fabric, with cabinetry, flooring, wall planes, and tiled surfaces creating moments of contrast, rhythm, and depth. These design gestures organise the modest space while celebrating the timeless charm of the classic Kiwi bach.
